Post subject: | Removing paint from clear plastics |
Hey guys So I found an unfinished Tamiya 1/24 Subaru WRC '98 that I didn't complete a few years ago. Everything looks in order and keen to practice my airbrushing skills on the body. One thing I did notice is that it looks like I made a stuff up on painting the windscreen and window surrounds, from what I can see it looks like I didn't apply the masking correctly. What are your recommendations for removing paint from clear plastic as I would like to repaint the window surrounds? I've done some research and it looks like using Dettol is a popular method for removing paint from plastic, but I'm not sure what the effects would be on clear plastic. Thanks again for all your help |

Put paint on a spare clear part and experiment with that. |

Brake fluid works great. If the clear part is still attached to the body apply sparingly with a ear bud. Some of the hobby shops stock paint remover, but I have not tried that. you can also water sand the affected area and then polish it out. |

Also try Mr Muscle Oven Cleaner. Just don't breathe the stuff! Pierre |

I have used mineral turps to remove enamel from plastic, it does not seem to affect the plastic either. |
