My friends father also did a stint in Simonstown. He's 66 now, and a Warrant.
BTW, what rank are you. Looks like a junior officer to me.

Combat officers course due to end by the end of the week

No news on promotion, no contract yet, not sure if he's going to submarines

All so unsure , and he only want's to be in the SA Navy

So wish that someone will see him and get things in order

Time will tell

Congratulations from my side as well. We trust his enthusiasm and tenacity will be rewarded. If I recall correctly the Langebaan flying motto is "Tenacity breeds success" so I reckon your son has got it made. :smt023

Sadly seems to be the end of the line
Subs not going to happen, some lung problem
On the minesweepers currently doing his tasks from Combat Officers course, but seems contract and or promotion not going to happen
Here is a young man wanting to be in the Navy, but not getting in
Applied for a job at some municipality
I so wished for him to be employed in the Navy, but no go
Sadly a loss for the Navy in my opinion

Tell him to keep working at those Combat Officer Qualifications and try and get qualified. First with his Harbour Watchkeeping and then his Bridge Watchkeeping certificate. Qualified Combat Officers are scarce, mainly because some take so long to qualify, and those that put in the effort and get it done do tend to get noticed and subsequently rewarded. It is not so much about the promotion now as the qualification and that is where I would focus if I was him.
