Any sign of the RS Ellen Khuzwayo? She's a funny little white-hulled job.

Yes spotted her Simons Town Harbour today

Thanks Allan - wondered why she had not joined the fleet!

Don't know if anyone saw this...

For some reason the video has been removed though.

Its in Afrikaans but the paper says, that SAS Africana is in dry dock in Simons Town and is apparently in an appalling condition.

Would not surprise me in the least - she is an old ship and has been worked hard. For the last ten years has been run under a strict budgetary constraint with contract crews. Maybe I am wrong here but in my experience a contract crew does what it must while a normal crew tends to go that extra bit further to keep their ship, in which they generally have some pride, just a bit more tiddly.
I think she last received a major overhaul 11 years ago.

SAS Africana is in dry dock.

So is it a free for all for all the fishing boats out at sea, now that non of the environmental protection vessels have been out to sea since the navy took over.

Here's a segment from a rather interesting BBC program on the Indian Ocean, The first segment is about the operation of the Environmental affairs vessels, before they were taken over by the navy.

Segment? It's nearly an hour long. Take forever to download in this part of the wilds.
