Only warship of that name I have ever heard of was a WW2 Steam Gunboat - which I don't think has been preserved. Never heard of a minesweeper by that name. Only results on web are for a general cargo ship - currently in Durban. |

Well, i cannot confirm if it is that very vessel. At the moment, the info below, was received from port control. If i could physically check it out, i would. |

The vessel I mentioned is a cadet training ship and is usually to be found on the Great Lakes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:TWR-841_2.jpg |

The vessel in the corner of the container terminal and 500 is the Grey Fox, ex SAS Thekweni. Will be repaired and used as the marine security patrol, the same as Snow Petrel. Schleswig and Paderborn are cut up for scrap. The last remaining Lindau minesweeper - Ulm is still afloat in Simonstown, probably will either be converted into the floating restaurant of scrapped as well. Ulm's hull was fully restored in dry dock. Anyone interested to buy it for scrap value call me 0725670010. |

I know it's probably a case of if you've gotta ask, you can't afford it... But... Roughly how much does that come to? |

The timber alone would be well into 7-figures.... |

The best bet is to replace the engines with more economical, perhaps 2 x 1000 BHP Caterpillars. You will get about 12-13 knots. Existing engines are still inside, but some of the copper piping was taken off. The total weight in the water of a lightship is 425 tons. This consists of about 250 t of timber - mahogany and oak, and about 130 t of aluminium, led, and copper. The rest is plastic and stainless steel with very little of mild steel. My point is that the hull of Ulm was properly repaired in the synchro-lift, and it will be pity to scrap entire vessel. It can be used as a floating restaurant or other entertainment venue. I will take reasonable purchase offers. |

In my previous post I was talking about the Ulm, the one still in the water in Simonstown. Answer to C-130. All machinery on Grey Fox is in running condition except for Starboard Main Engine that requires re-sleeving of one cylinder. But the price for Grey Fox is totally different from the price of Ulm. |
