Hello everyone - according to the SAN site (http://www.navy.mil.za) two Indian vessels are visiting SA

Does anyone know if there are any exercises scheduled with the SAN?

The two ships in Cape Town, INS Delhi and INS Ganga, are certainly going to be involved in exercises with the SAN, though I'm not sure which SAN ships will be taking part. I'm guessing the SAS Drakensberg and SAS Amatola will be at least two of them.

There are also a further two ships that docked in Durban, the stealth frigate INS Trishul, and an accompanying oiler, INS Aditya. I'm not sure if these two ships will be taking part in the exercise, but both are fairly new ships (the INS Trishul was completed in late 2003, and the Aditya was completed in 2000).

Incidentally, I've been told that the INS Delhi is a truly awesome ship. It's a destroyer, apparently one of three to be designed and built in India, and it cost about the same amount of money as all four of our patrol corvettes. I really wish the SAN could afford to operate ships like this...

Hi Darren

Good to know that we'll be exercising with them. Another question:

Has Amatola been completey fitted out? What is the status of the rest of the vessels?

Didn't know about the accompanying vessels (weren't mentioned on SAN site which i have not checked today).
