Oshikoto police want former SA soldier's kin

POLICE at Tsumeb are urgently looking for family and relatives of Nicolaas Johannes Frederich van der Westhuizen who is old and is being taken care of by good Samaritans.
According to Oshikoto regional police commander Anne-Marie Nainda, Van der Westhuizen alias “Ou Top” is a Namibian, born in South Africa, and is a former member of the South African Defence Force.
He came to Namibia in January 1980 and resided at Datal 1 Rogerweg, Grootfontein but moved to Tsumeb after independence and worked for Gustav Heinz at a plot about seven kilometres from Tsumeb on the Tsumeb/Tsinsabis road, said the commander.
Nainda added that Van der Westhuizen, who is now destitute, resides at 14th road in Tsumeb. His parents are Niclaas and Susanna. His wife Gersiena van der Westhuizen and his sister reside at Kuilsrevier close to Cape Town. His known children Konraad, Nicolene and Nicoreside reside in South Africa, he told the police.
The police are appealing to anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Van der Westhuizen's family and relatives to contact Sarel Visser on 081 219 5092 or inspector Kotze at Tsumeb police station on 067- 22 35 071 or 081 245 8682.
