My old man still organised her ship's badge, had the pattern made and had it cast in the dockyard.
Several thousand cheaper than any civvie firm had quoted. Got a case of something Scottish for his efforts from the Dept of Transport.

Cool - there is a Wiki article:

Not quite sure how displacement is measured in metres though #-o

I fixed it - just a simple infobox entry error.

I was in the fortunate position to sail with her to Tristan da Cunha and Gough islands last year.

The Titan helicopter crew was awe inspiring -ferrying cargo and passengers between the ship and shore with their Bell 212. For cargo ops, the pilot has to maintain a stationary hover over the forward cargo hold - gently sinking in between very hard, very unforgiving metal superstructures - the bridge on the one side, a crane on the other. All the while the ship is rocking and rolling - even changing course. From the bridge windows, you look right into the cockpit - a few feet away - watching the pilot's hands and feet dance on the controls. From the deck, you look up into the helmeted head of the crew chief lying on the helicoptor's floor - peering over the edge - pattering the pilot in - positioning the hook just so, to be hooked up by the crew below.

I've got some great video - will upload it as soon as my internet allows.
