I've never been there, but friends of mine have. Very posh and pricey I believe. Are you thinking of going?
FACT is too posh and pricey for me already - no I'm looking for someone with the actual experience of landing and taking off there. I have footage of a DASH-8 200 landing on the 800 metre strip and it comes in hotter than a firecracker, the pilot slams it down just beyond the numbers - with a full load, and I'm told these things often have to throw off cargo to get airborne at Sydney or Brisbane (usually the mail and newspapers suffer) - and it seems to stop halfway down the runway - or 400 metres worth. Same with takeoff - the pilot gets the thing right up to where the grass starts, literally, pours on the coal, releases the brake and she's airborne, once again with a full load, about halfway down and crosses the far threshold at a fair altitude. The footage is filmed from the runway end so perspective makes it a little difficult to judge but it looks quite an exciting arrival and departure. Very STOL.
Found this as a fair example:
