Driving out of Simons Town today (towards Cape Point) I did a double-take at a new restaurant that is opening on the main road. It is called Mig21 and looks most inviting with neon red and blue lights. Stopping to chat to the owner, it is opening imminently as a small coffee-bar/restaurant.
The theme is great and there is a model of a Mig 21 sitting on top of a missile, but thereafter the theme becomes a bit muddled with numerous wooden ships in the windows, a model submarine and the "heads" are done up with ship doors.
There is a wall full of Red Indian photos and a giant replica of an Inca Head. But what the heck it looks real funky and a lot of fun. Owner is currently looking for a very large propellor to suspend from the ceiling, so back to the aeronautical theme.
So all in all a good meeting spot when in Simons Town for a bit of ship spotting.
And there was me thinking there was nothing new "seen in the bay".
