Thanks for the updates fix-a-dak.

Wonderful to know that the Flagship of Cunard, a first class ship with a quintessentially British ambience, character, mannerisms to name a few, made her entry and docking safely.

If anyone is considering a cruise, without the riff-raff, very few kids barging about, classy yet relaxed atmosphere, proper evening dress after 18:00 (jacket and tie), and all of the rest that comes with classic big ship cruising, look no further than Cunard. We have had the pleasure to do a 7 day trans Atlantic crossing on QM2 (Southampton to New York) and thoroughly enjoyed it all.

Be sure to do your homework before booking on cheap cruises, some of them resemble a creche and a MacDonalds all rolled into one - nothing short of a nightmare. Have I mentioned captains ....

Mrs Kremlin & I went out to see her depart ... but alas 40km/h winds prevent her departure :(

So we ended having our picnic on Signal Hill getting blown away ... when the wind blows in Cape Town .. it BLOWS !!!

That's dedication Kremlin! I know the 'Cape doctor' well ....

Crossing the pond (as the Brits refer to the Atlantic from England to America) on QM2 in 2005, we were ready for rough weather. What we experienced was seven days of calm seas and full sunshine. We couldn't believe our good fortune, after hearing all the prophets of doom on stormy weather.

Below a picture over the stern, showing the weather we enjoyed crossing what can be a notoriously rough Atlantic.

Now that is a real ship! Not like those floating Las Vegas style hotels the Yanks seem to prefer.

Well, she is the only Ocean liner in the world all those others are cruise ships.

I actually have very few pics of this trip on the QM2, the camera I used was a freebie given to me and a lousy one at that, so it got left in the stateroom. On Cunard ships all rooms are called staterooms, no cabins, no bunks, no shared ablutions on these ships. Do look at the Cunard website.

Approaching a misty New York at 06:00 with many passengers on deck. Docking was at 08:00 and disembarkation from 09:00 with a city tour of New York thrown in for the day.
