My father is busy writing a family history. He has a just few details of his father's Army service, (mostly personal letters, nothing official. Luckily his service number is known to us. How easy/hard is it to obtain copies of his records from the UDF WW2 archives? How much detail would normally be included in such files? Who is the current keeper of the archive?

See "How to Obtain a Personnel Record" at http://www.saairforce.co.za/contact

I've received reports lately that Archives are not answering their email/phone, so best to contact the researchers mentioned.

Steve De Agrela and Gerald Prinsloo are the principal archivists - 012 670 8125. The archives are usually closed over the Christmas/New Year period but should be open now.
