Is the silver badge on your P&W cap a Puma/Oryx?
Great collection :smt023

Thanks Gripen. I've got two of them. It is an Oryx. I f you look at the 8th photo from the top you will see the second one clearer. I’ll take a close up photo tomorrow.

That's a really cool collection!
What's the story of the the flight helmets, model, date, use, etc?

Very nice Wing - it seems you also have a Vektor CP1 on display!

Thanks guys :D .
Both helmets served in the SAAF. The camo painted one is an Mk III B type worn by Impala pilots. The white one I am not quite sure about. I saw a photo of a pilot wearing a similar one in an Oryx (also white).

@ H1017412. There is a lot of hidden treasure in that cabinet. The CP1 key ring was issued when it was launched. Personally I am not very fond myself about the CP 1. My personal favorite is the Pietro Beretta. I am fortunate that my service firearm is still a Beretta. Me and my girlfriend Pietro. :D

I also like the Beretta, had a 92 back in SA. Much preferred my friend's Z88 though ;)

Nice collection Wingman! Thanks for posting :smt023

You are correct: The English manufactured Mk.IIIB helmets in green/camo with the P1A oxygen masks were worn by Impala Mk.II pilots, while the Mk.IIIA helmets were worn by Alouette pilots/crew.

The second helmet you have is a South African (Israeli?) manufactured helmet worn by Oryx pilots/crew. I have the same helmet but with a special night vision mount designed into the visor cover. They are similiar in design and share characteristics with the Cheetah C helmets.

That's also a nice Israeli style M83 SADF paratrooper helmet you have inbetween them. Just need to find yourself a decent Nutria Brown helmet cover for it

Could you please take a nice head-on photo of the Cheetah C portrait you have on your wall?

That red coloured one? Have seen that photo before but not that size. Would also be keen to see it :)

The Cheetah C is from a 2008 Frans Dely calendar.

Hey Wingman,

Fantastic collection, brilliant.

Regarding the "white helmet", these were built for SAAF by "LeFe" in South Africa and were used in various versions by 2 Squadron on Cheetahs, some Mirage pilots and by some crews on helicopters.
The same helmet was also made using the "bungee" visor system (Ala USAF) and used by 2 Squadron

I see your version is missing the "Elno" microphone, if you need I can send you a replacement one.
Its a strange combo your helmet because I see it stil has one "jack" mounting for an oxygen mask on one side yet a boom for a mic on the other side!

Thanks for the info Gregair. \:D/ Regarding the combination it is strange. Unfortunately I don’t have the history behind it as this is how I received it. Thanks for the offer in the microphone. I won’t say no for a replacement. [-o<

PS. I did not forget about the gun pods. I placed it in an envelope but somehow misplaced the envelope somewhere in my office. I’ll have a look for it today.

Cheers
Rickus
