Thanks for the excellent pic. And I learned something too; under the cowling is a locally made sand filter, so the a/c is operating in North Africa.

Cheers Dean, Geoff :D

The East African campaign & N°1 sqdn in Sudan, did not get the coverage it deserved. ie. it's not a glamorous one ... there are however, many wonderful stories to be told here \:D/

At the end of March 1941, whilst based at Jijiga in Ethiopia, N°3 squadron strength was reinforced by the addition of twelve Gladiators. These aircraft were from N°94 (RAF) sqdn based in Aden, who were now being transferred to Egypt, where they were to be equipped with Hurricanes. The twelve aircraft received were: N2280, N2286, N2287 (from Aden Station Flight), N2278, N2283, N2285, N2288, N2289, N2290, N2292, N2293, N2294 (from 94 Sqdn RAF).

These battle weary and weathered Gladiators were initially used on operations still carrying the N°94 squadron (GO) codes, before as time allowed, they were later repainted.

Cheers Wingman, jeffreynic :smt023

There's more Gladiators still to do, but at the moment I'm working on the template for another often neglected aircraft, also from the 1940 - 1941 East African campaign ... don't think I've seen anybody tackle a model of this one yet ... :-k

Hehehe ... we can have a "build vs draw" if anybody has got a Fairey Battle kit waiting to be built :-)

OK, like this type of challange... I can send you a few reinforcements from my virtual hangers if the pace gets to steep against you. ;-)

Check your normal email for more on your last Battle question.

Cheers,
P.

A few reinforcements you say ... you've got entire squadrons stored in those virtual hangars, ... no way any pace will be to steep against me. \:D/ :)

Got the emails, thanks :smt023
