hi folks

ive been asked before to post a step by step turorial kind of thing for doing my profiles in MS Paint, and i posted a little something with the impala mki thread, but i dont think i was very clear.

i spent all of last nite doing a martin baker mk10 bangseat for my new cheetah project, and i was clever enough to keep all the seperate layers and steps. yeah, i do the layer thing now lol. i still draw each layer by hand in MS Paint, but i use photoshop now to make semi-transparent layers for the shading and stuff. im sure ill find more uses for photoshop later lol. but for now the bulk of the work is still MS Paint.

so...

Image

top left - line drawing (used kremlin's seat as a base... tnx dude)
top right - flat colour (with a bit of texturing curtesy of photoshop on the fabric bits)
bottom left - shading (drawn over a copy of the line drawing... this i turn into a gradient map and overlay it over the colour)
bottom right - end result

not to shitty for what is essentially a two layer image (colour and gradient) if you ask me. this is also an indication of the scale i work in - i dropped the full scale cheetah project for now, but i still got all the files, so i might just finish it at some point ;)

i'm getting used to working with photoshop, and trying to figure out how i can use it, and finding new work methods for myself. i'll keep posting bits and bobs like this (maybe even a video) for those interested in the way i work.

tnx brent!

truth be told though, i think MS Paint is much easier to use than photoshop, and you can pretty much get the job done ;) i would however like to learn to use Photoshop propperly, but mainly for reasons other than profiling.

would LOVE to see your step-by-step process thou lol - all 5 million layers of it hehe

nothing like a sudden, unexpected bout of unemployment to get you drawing again... dunno if that is a :) or a :(

this seems to be a good place to start for the cheetah c project
