Unfortunately not, I tend mostly to draw aircraft operated by the SAAF, or in some way connected to the SAAF.

Then again, after being ousted from the Thundercity premises, whilst taking photo's in 2006. I took an instant dislike to Thundercity & anything it stood for or flown buy it.

Cheers

What were you taking photos of? And do they explicitly prohibit photography, or was there some other reason?

I had driven into the TC premises ie through the gate by the Gloster Javelin. I was not inside their hangers or on their apron.

The occasion was the arrival of the Cheetah C's & D for AAD in 2006. I think it was 5 Cheetah C's & a single D. The aircraft were to be kept at the TC hangers during this period. After photographing two Cheetah C's landing, some employee from TC took offence to me taking pics & before I could get them taxing past & into the TC apron, I was told that it is private property & to get out. All this whilst there were photographers on the apron photographing the Cheetah's arrival? When questioning them about this, I was informed that these are the "official" photographers ...

I had previously been at the exact location, about twice a month for at least a year, & took 1000's of photo's of both commercial aviation & of the TC operations.

So that was that ... & left me with an anti-TC sour taste.

RIP Dave Stock, but in my humble opinion, Thundercity can now go fly kites !!!

Cheers

All it takes is one officious employee to go power-mad. . . .

I understand rules, particularly when they relate to security, but get someone with diplomacy to enforce them rather than offend members of the public.

According to the Road Traffic Act their parking lot would be seen (defined) as a PUBLIC ROAD as the general public have access to it.

I was once myself in their vicinity and found the staff to be very snotty.

Any time you need pix of either the single Tiger striped Hunter or the Swiss cammo two seater I will be able to help. They are near where I work and I can chat to their owner any time.I have done some work on his other toy.

What about a profile of the Rhodesian Hunter that carried SAAF castles

while being "plumbed" in RSA to carry Sidewinders ?

That should keep everyone happy...maybe

If you send me a clear pic that I can refer to, I'll give it a shot. Looking for something to paint.

These Rhodie Hunter pics were found on the ORAFS web site. Link is: http://www.ourstory.com/thread.html?t=305460#330100

Colour schemes article was found in the Air Enthusiast dated ??:

A side view painting:

The Hunters colours were dark earth brown and dark green upper camo and dark earth brown underneath. The camo pattern was the standard RAF Hunter pattern with the brown replacing the Grey.
From the mid 70's the aircraft were devoid of any markings other than the serial number 'in black; which was in the standard postion at the rear of the fuselage and the front nose wheel door.

Hope the photos and pics help.

I have other articles on the Vampires, Canberras, etc. All Rhodesian.
