They were initially supposed to be retired after the final SAAB Gripen's were delivered in 2012, but then, to cut costs, the SAAF retired them in 2008.

So my Cheetah photo folder is four years thinner :cry:

Now thats to bloody sad to hear that the Cheetah is still suppose to fly in SA. Can you please make a profile the TFDC 845 cheetah?

Hey Dingo, thanks for the input :D

I've got those piccies of the LGB & noted the pylon. I've also seen SAAF Cheetah D's with that intake pylon & the LGB attached. However, the photo I am working from for #862, shows the intake pylon type as I've depicted, allthough I can't see if there is a LGB mounted on it.

So the question ... is the pylon depicted in your photo, only used for the LGB :?: ... and is the other pylon (as I've profiled) then not able to carry the LGB, but only iron bombs :?:

Yes,the pylon in question is used on LGB's.
the other one is used for Iron bombs.
Iron bombs can be hung on both pylons,but the LGB's not.
