Good day all

I will find mysef in jHB and want to py a visit to the SAA museum. I have always been a follower of the Helderberg tradgedy and I was 6 years old when it happened I still remember the news on TV back then.

I was just wondering if the SAA Museum has any details of the Helderberg incident visible for public viewing?

Hi Walter

The Museum is definitely worth a visit.

There is a small Helderberg display with a few items on view. One of the items recovered is what appears to be a miniature paper/polystyrene cup but still kept in perfect proportion. What had happened was the pressure from the depths of the ocean were so great it compressed the cup equally from all angles reducing the cup to less then quarter of a regular cup.

The Helderberg is one of the saddest aviation tragedies of all time.
