Leaving the Bay yesterday to attend a Wedding in Stellenbosch – naturally camera in hand, I was delighted to find that venue was pretty well at the end of the runway of the SFC. So a quick photo-shoot at the airfield before going to the wedding – to be drowned out by planes roaring overhead. But whose complaining….not me. So this is where Gripen does all her flying.

Was that yesterday, Doug? I was there for most of the day.

Yes - Tuesday 14h15 to 14h45 and then to the wedding at 15h00 when the real flying began just as the wedding was in full swing. My camera was pointed skywards most of the time as it was on outdoor wedding @ Forest44.

We had coffees at SFC and they seemed a great bunch. :smt023

We must've walked right past each other. I was donned in full kit; white shirt, black pants and the stripes on the shoulders, shoulder-length hair and orange (reflective) sunglasses.

I actually flew the Cubby that morning

Perhaps we should organise a SAAF-forum get-together at Stellenbosch sometime? The burgers and steaks are excellent, and the view even better.

Sounds like a plan that has to be executed when all is quiet again on the activity front. :smt023 \:D/

Hey Brent...why is it I cannot see any of your pics since you got the new lens. Are you posting pics via a different method? I just get a small red cross. I can see other folks pics. #-o #-o #-o

I have seen some of my images being hot-linked on other sites, so I have enabled hot-link protection to not display the image on any site unless the refering URL is www.saairforce.co.za/forum.

Anybody else have this issue with my pics?

Great photos. For those interested, ZS-SED is a C206 fitted with the G1000 panel. Very neat (though I personally think that sort of panel is overkill).

Re visiting. That's a tough one. You'll find that it's actually quite quiet most weekends. Perhaps around 0900, cause then one or two people might fly over for breakfast. Gone are the days when the airfield was buzzing with activity every weekend (people are lazy, and fuel is expensive- R15 per litre for Avgas now)

Only R15 / litre? At the end of the year it should be cheaper to fly than to drive!

I experienced a similar problem, but can see them clearly now.
