It's only six years ago, but things sure have changed. I bought my first point & click camera in 2004 & here's some of my first photos. Most of them are either no longer in the air, or have had colour scheme changes.

Anybody else want to share photo's from 2004 :?:

2004 was a great year for me! The highlight was my first AAD visit, and I haven't missed one since :D

Excuse the quality, I still used film in those days

Pardon my ignorance but what is that device sitting behind the clear perspex lens on the leading edge of the wing featured in the last photo? Are they all lights?

Yip they are all lights. The boxy thing is a wing-tip strobe light.

Those are ZS-RIX & ZS-RUC, Mil Mi-8's which are used by "Working on Fire", in the fire-fighting role. You can make out the cable running to the bambi bucket below them. They were fighting a fire in the Tygerberg Hills & made for unusual photo's as they were lifting water from a dam in the center of a residential neighbourhood.

Sadly ZS-RUC was lost during fire-fighting operations in 2006.

Yeah, create a "Seen in Aus" thread & post those pics Biggles, you should have some we don't get to see :smt023

Cheers

I also like the picture of P1722, won't see many of those (aerial) photographs of it anymore :(

Sad sad sad .. It was a weird feeling to see her at AAD2008, parked on the hardstand with the other museum aircraft ... no fitting farewell whatsoever   The occasional ground running of the engines are still awesome though.

Cheers
