Some more outbound at ORTIA, 11 August 2012, between 12:30 and 14:30:

Again, sorry for poor picture quality ... I'm turning my minister of finance's arm off to purchase a decent camera. Bear with me.

I then moved to catch some inbound birds.

Quite a busy afternoon, spending some quality time with my son. We moved between three vantage points around ORTIA, but to be quite honest the point closest to Boksburg, from where we took the final approach shots seems to be the best. We actually found another camera clutching pair of plane spotters there, and before we left at 14:30 two other vehicles also stopped to have a look. Seems plane spotting in JHB is quite the in thing. :smt023

I know. Problem is I use this camera for work purposes in extremely dusty areas, and just don't have the tools to open the lense housing to clean it properly. This is not surface dust on the lense, but fine dust particles that made their way into the lense cover over the years.

I never realised it since most of my work related pics don't have to be high quality and is usualy against a dark background. Since I took a few pics against the blue back ground I realised the problem.

Don't worry though, wifey is seriously contemplating a new camera. :D

No thx, I wouldn't want anyone to come in harms way on my account. Heavies with broken knee caps are not a pretty site. And if there a bodies I'm the one to dispose of them. Too much logistics involved.

In Jozi for the weekend. Saturday is rugby and vleisbraai so sunday morning plane spotting. Hoped to work in a round of golf but just too little time. Watch this space.

Still pissed at SAA though so will not post pics of SAA birds.

Got another mik en druk, though, not as powerful but at least the lense is dust free.

Nah man .. don't blame the aeries or the pilots for a management / political issue. Enjoy the hobby of aircraft spotting & post those aircraft pics. \:D/

The Mrs & I intend spending the entire Monday or Tuesday before AAD, by doing some spotting at ORT .. however, us folks from Slaapstad have no clue as to where & when is the best place/s to go take plenty photos.

Can anybody please assist with a "Dummies Guide to spotting at ORT" [-o< :D
