At the Air Force Day Parade on 29 Jan this year, celebrating SAAF 90, they media were handed a five page document (including photos) titled "A Short History of the South African Air Force 1920 - 2010".

The South African Air Force is the second oldest Air Force in the world (sic), after the Royal Air Force of the United Kingdom. The SAAF was established on 01 February 1920, when Col Pierre van Ryneveld was appointed Director Air Services (DAS).
