Hi guys, I’m new here. Not sure if this has been mentioned, but a mod for the Grippen has been released for Flaming Cliffs. Not bad at all.

I included some screenshots.

Till later.

Vista SP1 is out, but definitely not EQUALS TO Windows 7.

I work on Windows 7 already - FANTASTIC. If you have Microsoft's Development pack, you'll probably have rights to use and download Windows 7.

Only downside to Windows 7 - you don't get Windows Movie maker - have to download Windows Live Movie Maker - awesome user Interface. Haven't tried installing any of my Flight Simulators at work for obvious reasons...

And for once, for ONCE - I don't have the oppinion : "wait for the first Service Pack before you touch it".

To stick with the topic: What's the link to download this Gripen, and will it work in normal Lock On? I suppose it will.

Lock On has been released some tmie ago, you can still find it on http://www.take2.co.za for R49. But you will need the adon Flaming Cliffs to fly this mod. http://www.wantitall.co.za/ can inport Flaming Cliffs at about R350+.

For Lock on & Lock On Flaming Cliffs mods check out http://www.lockonfiles.com/.

Till later. :D

Yes it will work with Vista, but you will have to read up on the lockonfiles forum for the how to.

Rynopot the mod does work with the LOMAC, just make sure it has the latest patch.

There are a few problems with the mod; MiG-29 cockpit, heat blur is for a twin engined aircraft and too far forward of the nozzle, condensation from the engine shows two trails, aircraft weight is not calculated, manouverability and performance is the same as the Mig-29, although there are a lot of problems, the aircraft looks very good, much better than the Alphasim model. The mod includes almost all the air forces that operate the Gripen, although the SAAF Gripen C does not have textures and a few PGM's and pylons don't either but the weapons that are missing textures are fixed with LOMAC FC.
There are a lot of mistakes which I'm sure will be resolved in later updates, it is a must have addon and I was even surprised to see that the APU exhaust doors work.

To download the mod, you have to register, but its quick and free. Once you have registered click on the link below.

Anyone perhaps interested in getting a local multi-player Flaming Cliffs 2/3 community going?

I've been dying to get back into it and I'm about to purchase FC 3.

Le me know!

Francois,

There are some really nice developments going on in the DCS World community now...

FC3 is a lot of fun, but the stand alone modules are where its at....

Although the stand alone modules can be expensive, they're worth every cent...

I've got the following over the last year or so...

UH-1, P-51D, F-15C, FC:3, A-10C, F-86F (there are some 'SAAF' textures out there)....

I will say this to anyone interested in the stand alones: if you're not prepared to spend a few days learning the aircraft systems buy FC: 3. I've had the A-10C for a good few months now, and still havent yet nailed the weapon systems properly.

The FC: 3 aircraft are 'dumbed' down, so that guys can jump in an go... in the A-10C, after starting up the aircraft... you must sit on the ground for 4 minutes for the NAV/INS system to initialize, as well as load weapon profiles into the DSMS (Digital Stores Management System)... if either of these steps are skipped, alot of things will not work for your A-10 and you might as well not fly.

FC: 3 is also the best 'bang for buck' of the lot... as it includes 6 aircraft (A-10A, F-15C, Mig-29, Su-27, Su-33, Su-25)... however, they are all the 'dumbed' down aircraft.

DSC World is a bit buggy, and the game does tend to lose the plot occasionally, but usually with some spectacular results....

Here are some screenies of the online flying

Looks fantastic!

But F-86 Sabres with HUD and modern weapons and ECM pods?

Thanks for the info and awesome screenshots.

I've been a fan of the Flaming Cliffs series, mainly because I dont really get the time to work through the standalone versions. I bought the KA50 Black Shark standalone 2 years ago and I've barely been able to complete the training missions. I'd like to get back into it again though !

FC is nice and simple and bought it because I thought it might be a bit easier to get some other people in South Africa to join online games and actually fly the aircraft without "hassle".

But if anyone is still interested in FC3 multiplayer, let me know. We can maybe do some A-10 co-op or formation flying to start off with.

P.S. Just finished downloading DCS world today as well as FC3. Looking forward to checking it out!
